Yearly, the UK Health and Safety Executive releases data covering the health and safety risks of various industries for workers. A clean, information-forward template was needed to host this data, and this guide was created with the intent of being repopulated with new data year after year.

Core values: Belong, Grow, Transform with Z

For Zywave's new Core Values, I created 3 illustrations depicting the inner office life associated with each. The Z was used as a foundation, representing the organization's fundamental support of its employees.

The Newz

The internal Zywave bulletin, The Newz, was refreshed in line with its existing Kudoz brand. The typeface, angle, and arrow ornaments were adopted, creating a frame for an illustration to represent a category.

A cooperative tower defense game about managing resources and building connections. Power nodes to expand your area, and power tools to defend it. A full game built in a 30-day span, with all modelling, code, music, and artwork done personally.

Had a great time jamming in every hour I could for this one. Photon, a sponsor of the jam, is a game networking focused software company and being able to use their products and resources made this game possible. All models were intentionally kept simple and stylized, resulting in a cohesive look with little time spent on art. With a jam theme of 'connections', I was immediately drawn to conduits, circuits and power. I designed the game to require connections to progress, and to allow more connections to equal more firepower (and more enemies).

In one of the warehouses there's a truck you and your buddies can drive around. I don't think any of the judges found it.

Real Frog Mugs is a mug company with nobody on the payroll. Each run starts with two words pulled out of a hat and ends, a few API calls later, with a brand-new species of frog printed on a mug, listed for sale and advertised on Instagram. Nobody designs it, approves it or posts it. Every frog is guaranteed real.*

The question behind it: how do you get an AI to do one job over and over, the same way every time, with no one checking its work? Here the answer was a chain of small single-purpose scripts, each handing a plain file to the next, and one log file that quietly grew to 2.7 GB.

The line turned out 132 frogs and has sold exactly one mug: the Mudskipper, to a fan in Washington.

*None of them are real. Except the Mudskipper, which is real, and a fish.

  1. Draw two wordsPython pulls one trait and one adjective from two lists of a hundred, say “Rainbow-colored” and “Cryptic.” That's 10,000 possible frogs.
  2. Invent the frogGPT is shown two made-up frogs, then told “your turn.” It comes back with a name and a field-guide entry.
  3. Photograph itDALL·E gets the entry plus “nature documentary camera, muted and natural tones.” It does not always listen.
  4. Press the artPillow stacks the photo over the name and caption. That's the mug art.
  5. Make the mugPrintify puts the art on a 15 oz mug, the script picks the most flattering camera angle, and the listing goes live on Etsy.
  6. Post the adThe photo and caption go up on @realfrogmugs, usually while everyone involved is asleep.
